Kyle Walker banned for 3 CL games | appeal rejected (pg 16)

My guess is that it will be reduced to two which hopefully we can live with
I’d be more than happy with that. Without wanting to come across as arrogant, we should be ok without him against Sporting. But it would be a big loss if he can’t play in a tough QF first leg.

Didn’t Wan Bissaka get a three match ban for a similar tackle? Think that was reduced to two on appeal
Iirc Wan Bissaka's was a really bad tackle but not malicious, whereas Walker's wasn't too bad a tackle but obviously he had bad intent.

But that doesn't necessarily mean that Walker's wouldn't be reduced.

Knowing UEFA they will quash the ban and just ask for their standard 10 millilion in a fine instead

Wan-Bissaka’s ban was two games, reduced to one on appeal.
That was for a badly mistimed and very clumsy tackle rather than violent conduct (UEFA‘s words, not mine).

my instant reaction to the deliberate kick.....3 game ban. No "woe is me" shit from him, which makes a change from the usual "he dived" and pleading with the ref . Any reduction in the penalty would be wrong imo. He wont learn from it because he already knew, but the red mist very occasionally wins out. Which makes him a target (if they can get near him) . No-one in the squad is irreplaceable, thanks to shrewd coaching and recruitment.

I wonder if they’d have reduced it to 2 if the 2nd leg wasn’t a dead rubber… which would effectively have made it a 1 game ban

It’s possible, but I think the fact it was deliberate meant it was more likely to stay at 3 games.

Obi Wank-Bissaka‘s wasn’t deliberate, he got there as soon as he could, but was just high and late.
