Kyle Walker joins Burnley (pg5)

Hope he gets a warm welcome when he returns to the Etihad
Course he will. No reason why not. As someone said above, one of the key signings in the Pep era and pivotal to everything achieved in it. Yes he’s dropped off, but that is because he’s a human being and not the robot people seem to think players are.

Also, if that’s their home kit that is a a stunner. Might be a training top though.

Wish him well but those who are saying best right back are mistaken. Without his pace he would have been average, bailed himself (and others) out of the shit so many times with the afterburners, and with that became indispensable to us because of the way we play, but definitely suspect when it came to decision making and positional play.

I'm going against the consensus here and don't think he'll be a good signing for Burnley......
And if my aunty had a penis she’d be my uncle….

So the gift of athleticism means he isn’t in the argument

Yep, the argument carries as much weight as “well if Lionel Messi’s left foot was actually a Georgian carriage clock then he wouldn’t be that good”

Agreed it looks smart as

Brilliant player, his duels with Vinicius jr were something else. Hope we give him a great welcome when he comes back to the Ethiad.
He only has to keep his mouth shut, but I fear he has opened it once too often already, a bit like his pant zipper.

The only strange thing I see in this transfer is why have Burnley bought a defender when they had the best defensive record in the country last season?

Obviously there must be reasons but what are they?

They may have had the best defence in the Championship but they aren’t playing in the Championship next season….

I don’t know who their starting RB was but I’m willing to bet Walker is a significant upgrade

He’s got everything a newly promoted team would want

Obviously, he’s a bell end, but a great player for us and England

Putting a defender into a defence that works is a mistake IMO, like all sides that struggle to stay up they will be found wanting in firepower.

It worked in a lower division. Adding someone who has been, up until very recently, one of the worlds best right backs is about as risk free as it gets

But we‘ll see

first of many, impressive this was done this quickly and that we got any cash.

Good move for all involved. City get a (small) fee for a player no longer required and, more importantly, remove his salary from the books. Walker remains local, in the Premier League and should get to realise his ambition of 100 England caps before being thanked for his service. Still the best right back in the PL in my opinion and a big part of our success.

I don't think he'll be a good signing either.

But he will go down as one of the best right backs. Pace or not.

It's very unlikely he'll be sprinting 50 yards chasing a centre forward
Next season Burnley will be under the cosh an awful lot, defending for their lives and Walker will have far less ground to cover

I said the same thing to the missus. The 5mil transfer fee is token, it’s the wages saves that City will be looking at
Also, Walker’s personal life suits a local transfer
I wish him all the best. At his peak we had the best right back in the world and in my opinion, the best the PL has seen. He was a great signing for us and was a key player, no doubt about it.

A fabulous player for us helping us win everything. In his prime the best full back the Premier League has ever seen.

The off the field nonsense we could do without but that's something he was responsible for, and will be living with the consequences of, for the rest of his days. His legs have gone in terms of playing at the top level so the time is right.
