I think the idea is that he'll be attacking more than he will be defending so we need a fullback that's great going forward. The price is irrelevant it's what we were prepared to pay and spurs were prepared to sell at end of story. Walker right and mendy left (hopefully) is very very exciting.

It seems to me that Guardiola has determined that we need athletes in the full back positions to implement his style, players that can press high but have the capacity to recover their position should the need arise. I may be wrong but with Walker and Mendy not the most gifted technically that's how it seems.

Moods changed a bit today...for the one spouting £15mill more on this deal means less for a different deal give it a rest (can't remember poster and not trawling through 15 pages again)

I think Mendy is a very gifted player and will, if signed, be a revelation.

What a spiffingly good singing this is. He is 27 and has yet to hit is prime, knows the premier league inside out, was in the team of the year and is British.
An incredible upgrade on what we had in the last 2-3 years.

Our club has acted decisively and with commendable speed. If what Sky is reporting about Mendy it will be doubly the case. The situation changed dramatically on Wednesday when it was clear that Alves had gone to Paris. And some of our win fans just could not wait to heap the blame on Txiki. We need full backs and the only right back in whom we were remotely interested was Walker. In effect his value to us had rocketed. We had no interest in right backs that a few Bluemooners had seen a few times online, or even worse, on YouTube. So, get Walker quick, make progress on Mendy and consider Bertrand. It's not panic, it's of no significance at all that it's a world record fee for a defender and we haven't been rinsed by Levy. It's simply good management by City, reacting to changing circumstances and it shows that we really do mean business.

Love the way radio5 reporting it with an almost astonished voice, you can almost see the twit sucking his teeth and shaking his head in disbelief..."proven premier league international in 'sold for 50m' shocker..."

He improves us and it's good to see us signing a full back, he is 27 though and relies on pace, Clichy lost his pace and went to shit.
