Kylian Mbappé | Real Madrid Player (pg620)

No way will we pay the sort of money they'll want for him

Sadly I take this view also

We seem to be not entertaining spending that kind of money, I personally think with the personnel we have due to leave in the next season or two this is the one we should try and break the bank for, can’t see it happening though.

Totally agree, this kid is a generational talent but there is only one club on his mind, Real Madrid.

As with all cup gams there is luck, besides the dippers are world champions don't you know
Phil won the world cup and he doesn't have an attitude
Sorry Karen but you sound incredibly foolish trying to claim winning the World Cup isn’t an achievement. (Phil Foden hasn’t won the World Cup I’m afraid no matter how many times you say it).

go and tell David Silva he didn’t achieve anything when he won the World Cup and I’d suggest mbappe had a bigger influence on France winning it than David had in Spain winning it. I’m presuming you think Pele achieved nothing in the game as well as he played in Brazil and New York all his career. The 3 world cups he won were just lucky.

Even if Mbappe was open to joining us , there IS NO WAY that PSG would sell to us due to the Political issues ongoing among the club owners.

This is a NON- STARTER.

Bit harsh. Mbappe is a WC winner and you can’t take that away from him - and as you infer he was influential in winning it. However, he still a young guy with a colossal ego and he can chose to dine out - a la Alan Ball on his WC medal if he chooses - his legacy is written or he can press on and become an established world class striker in a major league. David Silva is a legend because of the level he played at for such a long time - his WC medal is an icing on the cake because he’d be a legend regardless - it’s nice to have but doesn’t define him.. We’re Cruyff, Platini, Puskas, Ronaldo and Messi not great players - but they don’t have a WC between them. The best team doesn’t always win the WC ! And all national teams have bit part players who get lucky... the Newcastle ‘star’ Stephane Guivarc'h springs to mind.

Of course it's an achievement,i don't think it's all down to him though, phil won the world cup in his age group so i'm sure he is as proud as the men are,he could have an attitude but he doesn't,my problem is his attitude, let him come out of his comfort zone to the prem and lets see if he is as good as he thinks he is,if he came here he wouldn't be allowed to act like he does

My point wasnt in anyway to detract from Silva or pele, it was more at how rediculous it was by Karen to keep saying Mbappe hasn’t acheieved anything in the game when he so clearly has. His attitude may well stink, but that doesn’t take away from the fact he won the World Cup which is a major achievement.

I don’t disagree at all about the attitude, I just think it’s unfair to say he hasn’t achieved anything when he has achieved probably the ultimate goal of any footballer in the world.

It's a one off thing that he will always have so i'll give him that, day to day he is in france with the biggest team,in that respect he has not exactly tested himself so hasn't earned the zlatan ego

Agreed, but he will end up being a far better player than zlatan.

Even playing in France for PSG, he is showing things most other players cannot do.
Areola got exposed while playing at PSG, same with Kurzawa. Choupo-Moting is still the clown he was at Stoke and David Luiz wasn't a world beater in France either. He is prolly more respected in England with his stints at Chelsea and Arsenal. He left because he was losing his spot to Marquinhos.

He is indeed a special player. However, he is overrated at his current level when he is compared to Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or even Neymar. He is in a group below them (more like a Thierry Henry). He needs to finally put great performances in CL regularly.

You seriously saying that Thierry Henry was a level below Neymar?

In term of talent, sure.

Neymar doesn't have the career he should have had because of injuries and co. but he is a better player than Thierry Henry. He is both winger, playmaker and goalscorer. Excellent on free kick and penalty kick. A very rare player.

However, Thierry Henry is and will be a bigger legend than Neymar.

^ Henry did and was a winger originally. As far as playmaking and goalscoring, Henry assisted 20 and scored 24 in the 02/03 season, and that was when United were at their peak and the competition was cut-throat. Henry at his peak was unplayable. Neymar has his theatrics, kinda like Ronaldinho in that regard. The ultimate bread and circuses player. Henry was way more impactful.

You might want to watch Neymar numbers if you think Henry is way way more impactful. And Neymar can drift from the wing to very deep into his own half to drive the ball up the pitch both by dribbling or with passing. Complete playmaker.

Even the stats will tell you Neymar isn't just theatrics but has a tremendous end product.

https://www.transfermarkt.fr/thierry-henry/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/3207
790 games, 360 goals, 161 assists.

https://www.transfermarkt.fr/neymar/leistungsdaten/spieler/68290/plus/0?saison=ges
396 games, 241 goals, 150 assists. All that for a player who had 3 career threatening injuries (his back in WC where it was feared he couldn't walk again, his foot last two years who have sidelined him for half a season each time).

If you want to take CL as the standard :
Henry has 112 games (8602 mins) for 50 goals and 17 assists while Neymar has 55 games (4703 mins) for 33 goals and 25 assists.

One played with Messi, Suarez, Xavi and Inesta and in a shit French league and the other didn't. Those numbers are astroturfed and you know it.

You've got to be joking. Neymar impacts games at least as much as Henry, if not more.

If you want to swap stats, here's one where you can actually compare the 2 because they were in the same team, same league. Henry is 29/30, Neymar 22/23.

Henry at Barcelona playing second fiddle to Messi, 35 goals and 23 assists in 90 games.

Neymar playing second fiddle to Messi, 70 goals 35 assists in 100 games.

Neymar on form is the only player who gets close to breaking the Messi/Ronaldo top 2, and injuries and moving to France have stopped that conversation but he is a ludicrously good footballer and sorely underrated because people don't like him.

Neymar was better than Messi at some really big times for Barcelona, like the famous comeback against PSG which was all down to him, the Copa del Rey final in his last year there, the semi finals against Bayern when they won the treble.

He scored in every game in that CL run from the quarter finals with 7 goals in 5 games. Pretty impactful on the last CL win of Barça.

It would help if you quoted the poster to whom you are responding.
