Tolmie - Has the price been set to £140m & they want it all up front?
None if we can get it through FFP but all kinds of negative publicity. If I were City, I would be talking to UEFA about this in advance. Some will regard that as heresy, but careful PR is important. What do you want us to do to demonstrate that this is FFP compliant? I might be naive, but I believe it's the Barcelonas, Man Utds, Chelseas, Spurs, Liverpools etc that we have to watch and not the UEFA licencing committee. Utd can hardly object given their recent spending: Pogba, Lukaku and most of all their agent practises. What consequences do we face from various organizations if we pay the said amount or anywhere close to that?
The danger is that we could flapimplode before the good bit.Now if carlsberg did transfers RM would agree to sell Bale to the rags and be in competition with us. Mbappe chooses us instead and RM cancel the Bale sale and the transfer window slams shut. :-)
I will be stunned if we get this lad ahead of Madrid.
Monaco won't be the problem, it's more about the growing discontent from everyone else. Everyone across Europe seems to be outraged by this Neymar deal, and looking for ways that UEFA could stop it or stop a similar deal in the future. Us dropping £150m on Mbappé 2 weeks later might be the kind of thing that pushes things over the edge because like it or lump it, fair or unfair, we are tied to PSG by virtue of our Arab owners and a lot of people already conflate the two.
Can't we afford it with our shirt sleeve sponsor? I'm sure having being shafted once by UEFA we have the dosh available without issue, just means we may not buy next season.

The rags will be on alert
Just remind me what happened last time we weere up front with UEFA on FFP and they said things were OK...None if we can get it through FFP but all kinds of negative publicity. I would not want City to get mired in an FFP saga though - so good question.
As Domalino says, could do with selling a few players such as Kelechi, Fernando, and maybe Nasri.
You know damn well what they'll say. They'll say we've ruined football, we're trying to buy the league, there should be an FFP enquiry and wasn't it wonderful in the good ol' days when the Rags could hoover up all the best talent unchallenged etc etc ad nauseum.Funny thing is all the articles about Mbappe mention Madrid, Barcelona and PSG as potential clubs. I even saw united mentioned in one article on sky, City is never mentioned.
Can't wait to hear what they all have to say if this transfer goes through.
Are you sure you want to risk so much of your children's inheritance?Just put a full £5 sterling on this happening. Let it never be said that I ain't last of the big spenders!
Liverpool at 20/1 though
