My interpretation of inconclusive tweet from Ornstein, the BBC's Arsenal correspondent.

"Manchester City have categorically denied a bid for Kylian Mbappé" ... BUT may well do so having a serious interest in the player.

" ..have no intention of making one at the quoted price".... BUT may well be poised to make an acceptable bid.

There are expensive legs left to run in this transfer story.

What makes you so confident ?

My reason being is because he's already met with Pep. He realises the ambition from the club is to get bigger and bigger and win lots of trophies. He can be a huge part of that. Also he knows he's gonna improve playing in England physically and mentally. He wants to improve. He's suited to ourleague and our manager which pep has already told him plus his mates have already arrived. I'd be very surprised if this kid goes Madrid. Seems to me like he's ambitious and has got a bit about him so for me him coming here ticks all the right boxes.

Monaco aren't getting Asensio. Not a hope in hell. He's the crown jewel in their youthful revolution, it would be like us getting rid of Jesus to get Mbappé.
