He would be perfect for the way Guardiola want's his #9 to play. Decent hold up, can play in the channels, can play on the wings so can swap with Sane and Sterling offering flexibility, makes use of his teamates and doesn't try to dribble unecessarily, He has great pace so would fit City's one touch countering and he is exceptional in the box and alert as he showed when he faced City and the second goal vs Dortmud. Pressing will also not hinder his game as he is young and he takes care of himself. His heading accuracy is also very good so the percentages of goals from high crosses will go up.

The main hindrance here is the asking price and that the allure of Real Madrid might prove an offer too enticing.

I didn't mean to get in a heated discussion about this but feel like some are setting themselves up for a disappointment this summer with the chances of us signing him, would it really be the end of the world if we don't sign him?

If we manage to get our fullback targets, a CB, a DM, Isco and Mbappé... I'll be amazed, as long as he doesn't go to a PL club I'll be ok with it personally.

No sorry not a strawman because anyone who's saying we "have to" buy him for a world record fee this summer is saying exactly that whether they realize it or not, we can only spend so much in one transfer window and have so many players to bring in, by blowing so much of the budget on one transfer how is that not making it the priority? I didn't even account for the possibility that Yaya could leave, leaving yet another hole in the squad that needs addressing first. It's common sense, it's the wrong summer to go for him for us and yes it probably means we miss out on him but as I said, as long as it's not to a PL rival I'm fine with that.

It's not the only problem, I don't think Monaco want to sell just yet but THIS summer was probably going to be expensive without even factoring Mbappé into it, so it is a problem. Unless Pep and his scouts and Txiki pull off a masterclass and bring in a handful of absolute stars for bargain price tags.

If he stays at Monaco another season that's a good sign and we'd be in with a good chance of signing him.

You think the club haven't done their sums? We will have valuation's for all player's we want to bring in, and I doubt we'll go and hugely overpay for One player at the detriment of other deals.

Exactly why I think some of you are in for a disappointment if you think he's coming this summer, this wasn't about what the club thinks to begin with, it was those here desperate to get him in this summer. None of us really know exactly how much we can afford to spend on him but lets be realistic the chances are if he is allowed to leave at the end of the season and Real want him enough they'll outbid us.

Don't quite get it myself either. We will have a fit Jesus back, add in Roberts and Unal from loan added to our already strong attack, why are people asking for more forwards? This isn't fifa where we can just horde all these young players, we have enough attack power for next season, just need defensive reinforcements and we are golden.
