The Mbappe situation is like a game of poker, with all the players at the table waiting for one another to blink. I'm not convinced by the PSG link and think that are these stories are being drip fed into the media as a ploy to get other interested parties to show their hands.
Monaco quite clearly want to sell, as his stock is at its highest. I appreciate that he may have another stellar season at Monaco, but equally he could get a serious injury or not perform to the same level with Monaco probably realising this, hence them trying to ship him out for big bucks.
I have a sneaky feeling that behind the scenes we are still very much in the race for his signature and that PSG are just blowing out hot air through various media outlets to try and put off other potential suitors. They seem to be using the signing of Neymar as way of showing Europe's elite that they mean business, but anyone who knows football can see that deal stinks of being bent. I dont for one minute think Neymar went to PSG for the prestige, as it is a massive step down from Barcelona and could be career damaging for him in the long term. All South American players worth their salt aim for Spains big two, but the Neymar family are clearly driven by cash as opposed to success.
Also let's not forget the comical twelve month loan deal story thats doing the rounds. As if a club would let their young, highly rated , prize asset go to a rival and risk injury or loss of form to be back on their books the season after either crocked or worth of fraction of his current value. Not going to happen.
I think wherever he ends up it certainly won't be for Neymar type money and that we have as good a chance as anyone else. Let's not forget he dined with Pep and was over in Manchester a week before the season started and also the fact that we have dealtcwith Monaco to the tune of just under 100 million already, so they know our cheques dont bounce.
