In an ideal situation, I would agree with your point , although I'm not sure that we can realistically expect to have the appeal of RM/Barca in such a short period of time.

We would need to be winning the PL and CL to elevate ourselves to their level imo.
That should be our target over the next 5 years.

:) that what you had in mind?

Gundogan would have to work his bollocks off and tackle anything that moved covering midfield for that side. Imagine going somewhere like Everton or Spurs and trying not to concede.

We may win the odd game 7-1 but I think there'd be a lot of 3-6 defeats too.

Need a solid back 4. Two blisteringly quick, tough tackling full backs and a midfielder like a young version of Yaya next season, whatever else we buy.

If we're in a situation in 4 or 5 years where Madrid can take our best players, then something has gone badly wrong along the way.

Pep might not want Aguero and I think Mbappe himself wants a RM move. I think it's unrealistic to think we won't lose some of our players, not every player wants to spend their whole careers at 1 club, especially these guys who didn't grow up here.

I totally agree with you on a strictly footballing front. However the premier league "and that includes all club's" cannot provide the lifestyle warm climate for most of the year, that the Spanish/Italian club's can. We as a club will always have to compete with that.

It's a bit like Sane he's just too good to let him go to another team, at least without a fight. If we get him that's are attack sorted for a decade.

Having 1 centre mid is suicidal. Looks good on paper but I doubt it would work
It might work with different wing backs, who were more naturally suited to helping out in central midfield. It would be completely and utterly fucking bonkers with those two and a complete waste of their talents and strengths.

That worked out well for the rag ****s, didn't it?
Perfectly well. They replaced him with Nani firstly, then Januzaj, then finally Depay. All far better players than Ronaldo.

Liverpool are just as shrewd. Pulled our pants down over Sterling because they knew they had the far superior Jordan Ibe waiting in the wings.
