Have any ITKS's on here given any indication what City's stance is on Mbappé?

Are we in talks?

Will we pay?

What will we pay?

Genuinely, everything is so quiet from City that I wouldn't be surprised to see them bid big considering they said they would pay over a ton.
According to Tolmie we've had an agreement with Mbappe for a while. As far as I'm aware though we haven't made a formal offer with Monaco.

The thing that worrys me about this is the fee... if we pay 150mill for him on a 5 year contract what if he wants to go to madrid 4 years into that deal? They wouldnt pay no where near that amount... the transfer fee is so high when the player inevitably moves theres gonna be a huge loss on the fee we paid

Doesn't worry me, City would already want to renew him when he has 2 years left and probably even before that to prevent this kind of situation. If we pay 150m and he has 3 great seasons, we will easily get 150m+ for him with 2 years left. But I'm sure we would want to tie him down to a 6 year deal maybe even 7.

So theres nothing to worry about given the fee, we would most likely make a large profit on him if he was pushing for a move.

Also alot on twitter that PSG are not interested.

This. beIN Sports in same corner as Jason Burt's report yesterday. And French sources reporting today PSG's president is in Madrid for talks with Atleti for Oblak and Real for Meunier.

the problem for me might be the possible ban in september ... if we can't be active for two transfert windows we have to push hard to buy a top striker now, Dembele , Mbappè , Kane ,Dybala , Alexis it's the same at this point

5-year contract for Kylian Mbappe at PSG. Salary of 850,000 € / month, progressive every year, according to @parisunited6.
Doubt it pal.
That deal is less than they would get from literally any-one else and PSG are direct competition for majour honours for them which in itself (If true) Is batshit insane.

Also, i think an account called "parisunited" may be a little bit biased and hopeful about news regarding PSG

Or he renews in two years, we sell a couple of years later for £220m (prices and football inflation don't go down) and make a huge profit after having him for four years. He leaves at 22 to his boy hood team.

or 1.5 Lukakus. No point trying to work out what is value in this market.

Questions I would ask:

1) Does he significantly improve the team, if so
2) Can we afford it?

I am in denial mode at the moment. If PSG are really in for him, then why haven't they concluded the deal, or at least made some headway with it?

You missed out (3)

(3) Would we get a bigger improvement by spending the same or less money on alternative options. SImply if we can afford it, and he would improve us, does not automatically make it a good idea.

And don't get me started on Lukaku, FFS, what where they thinking.

You can be pretty sure that media reports that City have spoken to Monaco about Mbappe are correct because it is common knowledge the press pack (or part of it) overheard something on the preseason tour and I have had that confirmed by someone who was there.

The counter point is that PSG and City can afford to do whatever their owners want. Being pedantic "affordability" is not the issue for us: as we all recognise, it is the rules of others that can prevent us spending what our owners choose.

Ultimately, I am happy for our owner to spend as much or as little of his own cash to further City's aims: aside from the fact, he is the majority shareholder, he's earned the right by investing so much already. If he wants VFM - fine; if he wants to splash his cash - fine.

No, we have to work within the rules, as you say. It's not a matter of having limitless money or not. Money we spend on McMuffin cannot be spent on other options, so it has to be sensible in its own right.
