You can be pretty sure that media reports that City have spoken to Monaco about Mbappe are correct because it is common knowledge the press pack (or part of it) overheard something on the preseason tour and I have had that confirmed by someone who was there.

It was a learning curve for him as well as the players I suppose.

Apart from his misjudgement of Bravo´s capability in the rough and tumble of PL, I suspect he used last season to pick players who he knew were not up to it simply to indicate he wanted new players in certain positions.

That City (like Madrid and PSG) had reached an agreement with Mbappe on personal terms - stuff like wages, bonuses, image rights, contractual obligations, etc. Doesn't mean that the player will sign. Just that the club and the player are on the same page what the transfer entails.
