real playing 4-1-5?

isco, kroos and james in central midfield. that 2 and a half attacking midfiedlers
More like a very attacking 4-4-2 with Ronaldo the floating 10. I am still amazed just how unselfish Ronaldo has been this season.

A line up with Ronaldo, Bale, Kroos, Benzema etc? Not a chance. Only the top teams would be good enough to take advantage of it ie Chelsea/City. Did you not see what they did to Liverpool? Arsenal play a similar line up half the time and they at worst come fourth. Tactics don't matter much when you have such superiority.

liverpool are losing 3 games in a row in the PL, so not the best example.

What I meant was in general such an attacking lineup especially with regards to central midfield. there is no enforcer, no proper defensive midfielder.

with arsenal, although they are light weight in midfield, you wouldn;t call Ramsey, Wilshere,Arteta, Flamini attacking midfielders (#10s). more like central/attacking central midfielders. Isco and James are both #10 and Kroos is an attacking CM). Teams with muscle and pace in central areas should give those three a lot of trouble, no?

Kroos was brilliant last night!

Agree, had a tough job sat there by himself, but utilises the ball brilliantly and keeps possession so so well.
He is so good and still so young. Incredibly foolish decision to let him go from Bayern.

Yes it's not a balanced or great way to play, but the point is that does not matter when you have such quality in attack and in defence. Of course they will drop points occasionally, but their quality will still see them destroy other teams. Kroos is still a much, much better player as a central midfielder than any of the Arsenal players. There's not one Arsenal player except the keeper that would come close to making the Madrid team. First you need the players then tactics.
