1) It's was a masterstroke for ITV to pick up the La Liga games this season. Shame they'll almost certainly lose it
2) Here we have the bottom team going away to the CL champions for the first time ever and playing with freedom and attacking fervor. We have teams in the premier league as high as 7th coming to us and parking the bus.
I watched the game as well. Better quality and they’d have been out of sight at different points in the match. You could say they could play with freedom since there’s no nothing to lose. However, they’ve played like that from the turn of this year
The Premier League has the drama, is unpredictable, and many more things. However, one thing that’s undeniable is that their ‘smaller’ teams play better football than some of the midtable to bottom half teams in the PL. Arguably, that’s why they sometimes have big scores, especially against the better teams. It’s not to say that they’re gung-ho consistently, nonetheless, they try to ‘play’ football rather than park an airbus in front of goal.
Another undeniable thing is, the europa league has been dominated by teams from Spain (Sevilla winning that was it like 3 in 5 seasons or so??) for a while now. When the 5th/6th team from the PL end up there, they struggle. Burnley’s season started off badly because of that. Everton couldn’t hack it themselves. I’m not shitting on the league. Personally, the quality of football outside the top 6 is dire.
All of this is opinion and not fact, so if people come with stats and such to refute all I’ve said, that’s ok with me.
