Lack of pace on the wings

The elephant in the room and increasingly so, is the slowing down of Kev.

His risk reward ratio was always offset by his and others' ability to get back in on the turnover of the ball.

Kev has had some truly shocking performances this season and Everton was another, where he was trying to force it when his fitness was letting him down.

He looks more and more for that killer pass when his legs can't take the strain.

I disagree with it being about Kev's fitness. I think Kev is forcing it because at the moment he's the only person creating consistent chances. Our wide players aren't doing enough with the quality of positions they find themselves in. Our fullbacks are playing very narrow. It feels like Kev is the only creative spark at the moment

Looking more and more like we need a midfield overhaul. The club must have a plan in place for the next 3/5 seasons. Another legend in Kev is slowly dwindling down his stellar career with us. Maybe a tweak or two might see us ramp up for the remainder of the season.

Another summer of changes looks inevitable.

This is grim reading, aw, fuck it! let's not forget where we came from, I just wish Pep could admit it when he fucks up, but he can’t...'the last three games- the best since I've been here’? 100% total BS.

You really think he meant that ?

yes this is what I think is the reason. don't think fitness is a issue. he was running a closing down in 90+3 mins last match

Not just that. By Rodri replacing Fernandinho, we have also slowed down in Midfield with Fernandinho being so integral in quick passing movement when he still had legs. Nothing against Rodri as a player but Fernandinho was a superior player.
Rodri is better than Fernandinho. People here think pace= good. I guess Xavi, Busquets and Iniesta were poor and not the best midfield ever. Reality is we have been more succesful and competitive the slower we've become. The problem right now is not our style, it is that Walker has been injured for months. I am 100% as soon as he is back, we'll be a different team.

Think there's a lack of pace all over the pitch. I think Lewis is doing very well for his first foray into inverted fullback but he's getting caught up the pitch all the time and lacks the Walker pace to recover which vs some counters is leaving our Cbs in shambles. Cancelo also average paced and costing us as last man.

Cbs. Laporte, and any of our cbs would have, got dusted by Nunez. I don't think any of them are slow but also none of them are quick either.

We lack both recovery and break away pace in the middle of the park, Kev probably the only one capable of getting away from his man but his engine is not what it was so his recovery runs have become more sparse.

Wings, got agility in spades but straight line speed is nowhere to be seen.

Up top. Haaland, rapid. Alvarez has that pace, low center, agility combo that early Serge had.

People here are really clueless or overreact for any little thing. We've had so many injuries this season that I don't know how everyone doesn't put 2+2 together and realize that our pace now is a consequence of our injuries.

Also, if you want to go back to Sane and Streling era, we will not win UCL. The last 2 season we've been the most dominant and it's because we've slowed down our tempo. It's still really exciting football(not as much as 17/18 of course), but only someone blind by nostalgia thinks we were more competitive back then

I dont think pace on the wing is that much of an issue. We play against low blocks most weeks. I feel the issues are lack of overlaping fullbacks especially with playing inverted wingers. I do think our issues this season is that our best front line of grealish foden haaland with bernie and kdb behind hasnt been played much since united game. We need that line up back.

Finally read a comment about Bellingham that makes senses. In my opinion he is overrated for that price tag. Also not a right fit for us
the price tag isnt the concern...I dont care what we pay for players the market is what it is.

Whether they are the right player is all that matters
