its lack of desire and work rate we don't close down if Pool can close us down high then why can't we Aguero is no slouch, Bony is reasonably fast we don't defend as a team we defend as individuals

That's also a good point; but it still remains we don't have a great amount of pure pace. We have Navas who doesn't really use it, and Sergio who is fast but not lightning quick. Cliche is the only other player. I can think of with pure pace too.

Lack of pace in general yes but there's a lack of mobility in defending in the midfield.

If we had Hazard it would make such a difference.

He tracks back, is great on the ball, has a great burst of pace etc.

Perhaps his most important trait for us would be his ability to drag his team up the pitch 30 yards.

We lack this and often lose the ball trying to play our way out of defence or when we hoof it long.

Unfortunately, as much i like Nasri, there isn't room for him and Silva in the team in big games where we will be under pressure.

Should have started Navas ahead of him.

We need a quality winger(s). This is nothing new.

The foolish part is that our manager wants to play in a system that requires strong pacy players out wide, but doesn't have the players for it.

It's pace AND desire we need.

We have quality world class players but for some reason they lack that burst of pace and hunger to reach the ball first.

Sergio being the one exception who has it all.

It's not necessarily pace, it's playing at a high tempo and then pressing off the ball. We never ever do this.
