In the days before rules and regulations we had common sense, trouble is I had no common sense, or so my mum used to tell me.Can never understand why you would ride any sort of bike without a helmet & suitable clothing……
At the beginning of the latest Top Gun film Tom Cruise is in the desert he gets a call jumps on his huge motor bike and blasts down a long road at like 90mph with no helmet (Presumably looking cool).Come to Florida where riding without a helmet is legal. Bikers over taking you while you are doing 70mph with no helmets and wearing t shirts on the motorways!
Millions do, in Asia. Can never understand why you would ride any sort of bike without a helmet & suitable clothing……
Curious isn't it the human psych. The least sympathetic response to a death since Jay Slater.
It’s their lives, what’s the problem? At the beginning of the latest Top Gun film Tom Cruise is in the desert he gets a call jumps on his huge motor bike and blasts down a long road at like 90mph with no helmet (Presumably looking cool).
Thereby influencing thousands of young men to not wear helmets, absolute ego ridden dickhead.
I think Tom is in the wrong here, speaking as a very experienced rider, he shouldn't be promoting the idea there is no need for one. Well that's my opinion. It’s their lives, what’s the problem?
I would and do always wear a helmet but each to their own
I really understand where you’re coming from but I’m still conflicted whether it should be mandatory.I think Tom is in the wrong here, speaking as a very experienced rider, he shouldn't be promoting the idea there is no need for one. Well that's my opinion.
Young lads are daft and ignore danger. They are also easily influenced.
Wearing a helmet is law in the UK and Australia, I believe that is the way it should be.
I came off my Bonneville in my 20s slid along the road on my back and head first into a steep kurb. I firmly believe I'd have died had I been helmetless.
It's similar to seat belts really.
Not really influenced anyone there, he's riding a 40 year old bike for 30 seconds in the film without a helmet. It was nessacary for the call back to the first film. He throws the dust cover off and rides to the hangar. Big deal.At the beginning of the latest Top Gun film Tom Cruise is in the desert he gets a call jumps on his huge motor bike and blasts down a long road at like 90mph with no helmet (Presumably looking cool).

There are a few arguments for it, imo. The obvious one is the people who have to scrape the brain off the road afterwards not having to do that job. The family of the idiot being spared a huge amount of grief is another. The cost involved is a third (us having to pick up the tab of the dad who leaves a single mother and kids behind, or pay for the intensive care).I really understand where you’re coming from but I’m still conflicted whether it should be mandatory.
Knew someone would argue. Probably a Tom fan. :)Not really influenced anyone there, he's riding a 40 year old bike for 30 seconds in the film without a helmet. It was nessacary for the call back to the first film. He throws the dust cover off and rides to the hangar. Big deal.
And he would definitely struggle to do 90 on that bike without a helmet on, the wind blast would blow his sunglasses off. And its not a huge bike, Tom just makes it look huge.
I've still got mine ;-)
I'm not sure how many teenagers are looking to a 62 year-old man for cool tips, to be honest.Knew someone would argue. Probably a Tom fan. :)
On film without helmet he's ridden many big very fast bikes like a Kwaka GPZ900R was the fastest production motorcycle of its time and the first to cross the 150 mph barrier — a fitting companion for a character known for his “need for speed.”
Is he 62 inches tall ?I'm not sure how many teenagers are looking to a 62 year-old man for cool tips, to be honest.
You don't need to tell me mate, I own one ;-)Knew someone would argue. Probably a Tom fan. :)
