I remember it was the quietest i'd ever witnessed at maine rd during those tense minutes.

Remember it well, sat in the North Stand, the Leicester fans in the Platt Lane were great that day, all stood and appaulded him off the field.

Stood on the kippax that day & it was horrible, his body started shaking like he was having a fit & I think people were seriously worried if he would recover ok.
me too. I took 2 mates, both of whom were bham fans to this game and they both thought lakey was one of the best english players around, shame really, still think he could have been an all time great.

That was the strangest time i ever remember at a football game....it was so eerie.. everyone knew there was a problem straight away...

I believe the legacy of this incident was that club doctors had to start sitting on the bench or at least somewhere at pitchside. If I remember correctly, Dr. Norman Luft was sat in the Directors Box on this day and it seemed to take him an age to get to Lakey. Thankfully Roy Bailey's quick thinking saved him that day.

the leicester physio needs to take some credit. he left his own man to attend to lake as roy bailey was at the other end of the pitch after treating someone else just a little earlier.
didnt mcnab miss a penalty just after lake was stretchered off?

I was in the Kippax that day too, the youtube clip brought it all back.

The OP is exactly right about how quiet it went, you could have heard a pin drop.

I remember a huge round of applause later when the announcer said Lakey was OK and with his mum and dad, easy to forget he was only a kid really.

Shame what happened down the track, easily our best prospect in those days.
