Lamela's Goal

Not seeing what the fuss is all about TBH yeah great technique but the keeper is either unsighted or shite or both

At first I thought he hit it right footed and just thought he took it well, it took me a few replays to see what he had done, I don't know how he generates the power but it's not the first time he's done it (youth team in Argentina I think) . Great goal either way!

Timing - it's not about putting your laces through the ball at every opportunity like some clowns do, with the ball ending up in row z much of the time. Jovetic to note, if he ever gets a game.

Don't you mean Andros Townsend?

Good goal, but not a patch on YaYa's at Wembley last March.

Obviously!

I didn't realise - even after watching that video- that he hit the ball in the way he had, until I saw it on TV this morning. It really is a bit special, isn't it?

Still think YaYa's at Wembley is better, though.

And Samir's.

There's always one isn't there. Could be the greatest thing the world has ever seen in the history of mankind but there is ALWAYS one!!!

Great skill to time it like that.

However, every time I see someone do that o a pitch, for a cross or a shot, my immediate thought is that it completely highlights what a one footed player they are and how little confidence they have in their weaker foot.

There are very rare occasions where someone's weight is trapped on one side and the only option is to try this, as kicking with the foot the ball is coming is not possible. But those occasions are very few and far between.

9 times out of ten when someone tries this trick it actually highlights a technical deficiency (a very poor weaker foot) more than technical ability (a mostly ineffectual 'skill' more at home in a ball juglers repertoire).
