I was at Colwyn Bay (actually Rhos on Sea) yesterday, and I witnessed one of the finest double centuries I have ever seen (in many years of cricket watching) from Dane Vilas. OK, it was a smaller ground than OT, and Glamorgan are not the world's greatest opposition, but some of his stroke play bore comparison with some of the great batsmen of history.
It was a wonderful day's entertainment, on a lovely ground on a sunny day in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, mostly apparently from Lancashire.
None of this "watched by two old men and a dog" nonsense. Knocks T20 into a cocked hat. As for next season's "The Hundred" monstrosity, words fail me.
Talk about selling your soul.
I know which I prefer.
