Landon Donavan

He is very good, I will admit that, but it remains to be seen whether he can handle the more physical game. He certainly couldn't in Germany - twice. I only caught a bit of the game Saturday, but I wouldn't base anything on that game.

Oh, and he's a twat.

To frank i got nothing against americans, i got american friends who live in LA and they think donovan is shit, but then they chelsea fans so what do they know, lol
 
I'm American and live in LA and don't particularly rate him. Only been in the last year that he seems to have developed a position (playing on/from the left) that he can play at higher than MLS/CONCACAAF levels. He's alright, nothing special. If he were Hungarian, Trinidadian or Peruvian you wouldn't have heard of him.

Also, a good time to lodge the fact that i think most Americans greatly overestimate the national side because of the Confederations Cup (Spain had a cigar on that entire game). I think England and Slovenia will go through Group C.
 
I've lived in America. Donovan is the best U.S. talent ever produced. He can be soft. But he is still a better all around player than Dempsey. Donovan though won't be used to his full potential by Everton. They'll want him to play more defensively and work for the team tracking back, etc. Donovan is a very good attacking player. Creative passer who can one touch it around the park. Great pace. I wouldn't be surprised to see him assigned to chasing down Bellamy this weekend. And I honestly think he is as fast as Bellamy though I don't think he can stand up to Craig. And the guy can finish as well.

He'll be o.k. for them but nothing incredible. Out of season and needs too much time to adjust.
