Sorry, was on a wind-up. Lapland refers to the area populated by the indigenous Sami people, derogatorily known as Lapps. The Sami populate the whole of north Norway, Sweden and Finland, as well as the Kola peninsula in Russia. Went about 5 years ago, Its stunning visually and really gets the christmas pumping, no matter what time of the year you go. 'Santas' grotto was terrific it was like a polished unground cavern.

Reindeer rides were certainly different but adds to the experience. Can't remember loads but i recall wearing some ski shoes and going on this snowy walk and i was part disabled and took ages to get to this certain location.

Went to lieska and lahti in the summer time s few years back. Beautiful, and the ladys were hot. They all fell for my circa 1977, shit chat up lines! Heaven on earth.

I guess you'd be heading to Rovaniemi? 3 days would be your max as there's not much there once you've done the Santa stuff and sleigh ride. It's not a big town at all.

And prepare yourself for Finnish beer prices...

It's a lovely place though, well worth doing once in your life.
