Laporte says goodbye

Looked at the end of that he was a bit emotional, always give his all and I certainly don’t remember him kicking off or anything yes he may have complained once or twice about game time but don’t they all, good luck to him far to good to be going to Saudi bit of a strange one that no top clubs came in for him ..

Thanks Aymeric for all the memories! One of the most rounded defenders in the league, Not sure how he was sidelined and ended up here.
Superb player , look what the filth want for slab head and compare to our fella Amazing he’s not moved to a top level club anywhere but ended up in Saudi ????

World-class and committed through and through. He has given us not only his heart but also a lot of his actual health. Fully dedicated, whether playing injured or not, always reliable. Role model servant for the club.

A player who put his body on the line for the club, always supported the team when he wasn't starting, a huge part in some of the trophies this club as won. He'll always be welcomed back.

All the best Aymeric.

He's been such a great player for us.

Thankyou Eric for all the wonderful memories. You'll forever be a blue in our hearts.

Bit sad about this one, he always gave his all and came across as just a good bloke throughout too. He’s a seriously good player too.

Wish him all the very best for the future.
He can certainly still play at a higher level than the Saudi League. Not many interested clubs in Europe though, apparently. I'd have thought someone like Newcastle or Spurs could do with someone like him.

Warrior. One of the most under valued and under estimated defenders around.
Thanks pal.
Roles reversed and city are looking to sign defensive cover we identify Aymeric as the one we want How much would he cost us ? £70-80 mill that’s what Scandalous that he’s going to Saudi for peanuts really Quality player

Unused substitute in both CL finals. You would never know as he never complained publicly. Class. Big loss.

Warrior. One of the most under valued and under estimated defenders around.
Thanks pal.
I think "underestimated" sums Eric up to a tee. All those years he was ignored by Deschamps for France and ended up qualifying and playing for Spain. Now he slips away from the European Champions to play in the Saudi League at the age of 29 ! I think City fans appreciated him fully and recognised his contribution over several seasons but how he's not been snapped up by a top European club is a mystery.

He gave his all for the shirt everytime he played. Got the winner in the final against Spurs and played through the pain barrier to help win us the title when our defence was decimated. All the best to him.
Also scored the goal at Brighton to put us in front in the 2019 title clincher. Quality player, all the best for the future.

Very gracious goodbye and whatever we get is pretty well all profit so that's great.

But he made schoolboy mistakes at times and I think he cooked his goose with Pep after the home defeat by Spurs a couple of seasons ago. He was woeful in that so maybe that performance or his reaction after the criticism he would've got, led to him being sidelined. Wish him all the best though.
What a cock you are. He’s been consistently excellent for us for 5 and a half years, given his all in every game he played and played a major part in our success. In terms of quality, easily in the top ten central defenders we’ve had in the last 40 years. Yet you choose to pick up on the odd bad game and rumours about his attitude. Fuck off

The partnership he built up with Vinny towards the end of 2018/19 was the foundation that enabled us to win the last 14 games to fend off Liverpool and he ended that season by scoring the winner against Brighton on the last day to seal the title. It's a goal that is often overlooked, perhaps because we scored two more, but what a huge moment that was in our rivalry with Liverpool. It's also easy to forget that he scored the only goal in a cup final.

As others have mentioned, playing through injury to get us over the line in 2021/22 when we were down to the bare bones is what I will remember him most fondly for, especially as it probably contributed to him losing his place the following season. That's what you call sacrificing your own interests for the good of the team.

His first season with us was the centurions and his last season with us was the treble. It's bittersweet to see a player leave who has been here for every trophy of the Pep era.

5 Premier League titles, 4 EFL Cups, 2 FA Cups and 1 Champions League. Not bad in just five and a half years.

A classy player and by all accounts a classy person. Thanks for the memories Eric.
