Is there such a lead that enables you to connect your laptop to your tv and watch downloaded movies streams etc?

What is it called? I presume it would be a USB to Scart cable. How much we talkin?

Cheers mate - does it work for streams? So you can watch the football on your telly?

Actually, you'd be better with a SCART to VGA cable, but they're more expensive, at 59.99 for 1.5m. They would allow you to have a replica of your laptop screen on your telly, which I assume the usb one would do, but I've never used one to be honest with you.

look around edges of lappy for a small round hole that looks a bit like a 5pin din connector

Is it like a HD telly or a plasma? If so you can just use a VGA lead, that's what I go for, its rare a laptop won't have VGA out, its a 15 pin socket with screw holes either side.

i use a cable to link mine to the tv. im not sure what the cable is but its like a longish thing with pins, then you screw it in. it looks like this
