What laptops do you all use outside work? Is it mostly Macbooks or Dell, HP, etc? I am been planning to get a new laptop. Currently I have a Dell XPS 13 inch 9305 but I am looking at Macbook Pro M3 or the upcoming M4.

Anyone know how good the Macbook Pros are? Are they better than Dell or HP?

I bought the M1 Macbook when it first came out. It still works as well as when I first got it. Been brilliant tbh.

The only issue is Apple's insane upgrade prices, so instead, I just bought a 1TB Sandisk SSD, which I use for photo editing. The USB-C connection speeds are so fast nowadays that it's not longer a compromise (other than having to plug it in and remember to bring it).

I picked up a decent 15" laptop from Very as few months ago.
Solid state drive, Ryzen 7 processor, 8G RAM. Can't remember the exact price but it was at the bottom end of prices for the spec. Units with Intel 7 processors tended to be slightly more expensive but comparison sites suggest there is little to choose between them.

Depending on what you need it for a Chromebook is a very good performer and great value.
