Get the Asus eeepc. I woul suggest the 900 model. Just got oene for my daughter £208 with delivery. Very small about the size of a hardback book and come with wireless, webcam, microphone, speakers, 8.9" screen. Opperating system in a version of Linux but you can buy with XP on it. I have just upgraed my daughters to XP and it is great.

Mine was reduce from £330 to £200 on the site below

Looks good for the price, mate. Worth it.

Asus EEEPC 1000 for the win.

Retail for about $700 here, so with the exchange rate you could import one for what, £270?

Im on my second Dell and have never had any kind of problems with either apart from Vista problems!

Someone posted a link to a Dell Ebay store selling one's that had damaged boxes etc for less than normal price and still entitled to the warrentee period, although probably not ideal for gifts though.

Got to agree on Dell. Work for big college/Prisons. Support over 500 laptops. In the past had HP/Dell and Samsung. Dell by far the best (new and old models). Decent prices and support is excellent (as far as PC support gos!). Support Based in Ireland rather than rest of the world. Should be looking at about £400 each for what your after
