Largest City away following, where do you think it was?

Sheff Weds away last game of the season finished 1-1, Uwe scored the equaliser - Leppings Lane and the adjacent corner was rammed I was sat in the home stand and that was full of blues - happy days

Probably Newcastle in 1968/69 .......

other than that .....

United (fa cup) Varadi goal ruled out ..... about 13,000 city fans
Notts County (div 2) ..... about 13,000 city fans
Stoke away (fancy dress day) ..... about 12,000 city fans
Blackburn (promotion game) ..impossible to estimate.

I remember the quarter final of the league cup at goodison park in 88 where we had behind the net and the top tier down the side.14000?

Leeds away 76/77 at Xmas

50K in there and must have been at least 15-18K City

Loads of blues walked in with no tickets stewards and police were telling people to sit anywhere you wouldn't have known that that stadium had a disaster the lack of control they had

I'd have said about 12-15k that day, the terracing behind the goal was rammed, but definitely at least 15k the following season at the riot Cup tie, we had half of one side as well as behind the goal for the Cup tie.

There was a Boxing Day at Stoke in 71/72 season, crowd was 43k and we must have had at least 20k there.

My uncle took me to that one. Think that was my first ever City game. Watched on the edge of the pitch behind the goal after failing to complete a gymnastics manouevre on the crush barrier.

15K sounds about right for Leeds. Those Xmas/ Boxing Day fixtures when you could pay on the gate got some massive turnouts.

My Dad used to tell me about the Christmas Day fixtures he went too when he was a kid!

Vienna 1970 not the largest but certainly the longest distance to travel.
Most of the 8000 crowd that night were Blues.

Certainly were, as Poland would only let I think,100 people travel to the game
Got pissed wet through like every other poor fucker but didn`t give a shit.
Same night that Chelsea and Leeds played the FA Cup Final replay at The Swamp.

Interesting........ mmmmm, well the ones i was at i would say that
Stoke Feb 77, we had behind the goal which was then still an open end and all along both paddocks at the sides....... probs 12,000?

Leeds cup 78....... 13-14,000

Stoke trev francis debut....... 10,000

Luton Lc at swamp 77 ........ 11,000

Peterbrough cup was not 8,000, more like 5k

Villa park semi ......... 25,000

notts county 85 i reckon was about 12k as the attendance was 17,000

the swamp in 1990, bob brightwells goal..... a massive 40,000 at the theatre of shite and at least 10,000 blues, a lot in stretford end

oldham good friday 84 and the ladder, yeah we took over, there was 20k there, so i reckon at least 14,000 blues. and they have hated us ever since haha!!

the biggest must be Blackburn........ 29,500 inside ewood and i would say at least 15k blues.... i was in Jack walker stand and i was surrounded by blues...... and maybe a couple of thousand outside who got in before the end.

Notts county, they moved there own fans into the away end to free up the rest of the ground for us as there attendances were low and we could have been promoted that day with the right result. Billy coming out at half time and asking us to get off the pitch and promising they would do better in the second half was a bizarre moment.
Stoke was a mental but great day out with the banana's the result and the subsequent relagation.
The Oldham game was incredibly dangerous for a young man, kicking off everywhere before during and after the game. Never seen so many trashed cars as I did that day at Boundary park

I know Leeds fans who say that was the biggest away following they have ever witnessed at Bellend Road.

newcastle away 68 - at least 25,000 - took their end as well

derby away 72 -when we should of won the league - at least 12,000

liverpool away fa cup third round 72 -must of been at least 15,000,
closed the gates at the anfield rd end at about 2.45 with the q's round to the kop where we ended up.
malcolm allison walked up to the kop, camel coat, panama hat and big fat cigar and starts guestering 2-0 to the kop. what a day 0-0. tommy booth got a last minute winner in the replay.

i remember at least 6 times where we've took over 10,000 to leeds, the 2-0 win one boxingday really stickin out when leeds never touched the ball for 90 minutes
