Las Vegas or New York ?

New York, without any shadow of a doubt.

Think what Las Vegas is famous for, and then think how much of it you'd actually be able to do at 16. No casinos, no bars, no nightclubs, no pool parties..... Would be a complete waste of time for you and your family.

Indeed. Ask this question in five years time. and then you might want to consider Vegas, but even then you will want to consider how deep your pockets are. but for now, NYC all day long.

I just visited Vegas for the first time with my missus and I immediately decided I will have my 30th party there.

One is a world city with plenty to see and plenty to do and the other is a down market small city in the middle of nowhere with lots of casinos and tacky looking buildings and signage.

Not a difficult choice really.

When are you thinking of going? Vegas is okay in the summer but don't bother in the winter, it is as cold as here and will be a dead hole apart from at the weekend! As your 16 you won't be able to do anything in Vegas that it is famous for, the legal age for drinking/gambling and just about anything like that in the US is 21. You also need to know that a lot of Vegas hotels and casinos don't even allow people in under age who aren't staying there so you might struggle for things to do and places to go. Also bare in mind that in the summer Vegas gets ridiculously hot, 40c/100F+!! It is quite literally a random strip of big hotels and casinos planted in the middle of a desert. Travel 10 miles out and it is just desert, there is nothing, not even anything alive!

I'd go for New York, there is plenty to do there but it depends on what everyone is into and I don't think you can do New York for over a week before you get a bit sick of the traveling and tramping around. Vegas can be alright for the whole relaxing at the pool thing but there is far better for that elsewhere.

Have a look at Miami's South Beach, fantastic city which has a decent nightlife for the adults and then there is plenty to do in the day plus it is hot but not as hot as Vegas.

Las Vegas is pretty pointless unless you're 21

New York would be the better (and cheaper) bet - though as you're only 15 I doubt you'll have much say in where you're going

I've never been to New York but I have been to Vegas. I agree with those that say you need to be 21 to appreciate it. You will have the same problems getting into bars as you do, but at least you stand more chance of finding something you can enjoy that does not involve booze, gambling or hookers (if there is such a thing). The Strip exists pretty much as a party venue for tourists, whereas NY is an actual living and breathing city with people of all ages living there.
