Las Vegas

I went over the new year about 8 years ago, a few days is fine anything more is too long (we stayed a week, was cheaper to go to Vegas than Europe for a winter break!) it's just like an oversized Trafford center, if you do go definitely visit the grand canyon by helicopter if possible the trip out is stunning.
Preferred the old town to the new strip, all in all its a over rated but worth a one off visit.
Wont be rushing back

Pretty much my opinion on it too. I first went in 1996 while New York New York was still being built and quite liked it, it felt like Disneyland and quite open and sprawling, but returning in 2018 so much had changed, not for the better, it was just overpriced shops and overpriced eateries and much busier. I missed the ching-ching-ching of the casinos now it’s all card payments (not that I gambled much, $25 first trip, $0 second). It was also 35°even at night when we went so not much fun. I still haven’t done Grand Canyon after 2 visits, but think I’ll do that properly one year and stay nearby. Also never got to Fremont Street yet either, not sure if it’s even worth it.

The best eras to visit were in the late 80s/early 90s. You could get a free breakfast (20 minute wait in line), $3 steak dinners, 25 cents primo German lager to celebrate Ballys 25th year etc) and rooms and buffets were dirt cheap. Now everything's at a premium price. Apart from Chinese or pizza buffets ($9) an evening buffet at a decent casino will come to $25-$30 + drinks and room prices are sky high (more on Friday/Saturday nights).

Still worth a visit though and Downtown (Fremont Street) is less expensive than the Strip. Best tip is don't gamble - the house always wins. Good tips are day trips from Vegas (Valley of Fire, Mount Charleston - skiing in winter, Red Rock canyon, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead) as well as Grand Canyon flights.

I liked Freemont st, good fun.

Beware the resort tax they add on at the hotels, got stung with that $30 a night on top of the room fee.

I hate Vegas. Never been a gambler which might explain it. Garish, rough in a lot of places, windowless and tired casinos. It's feels very seedy and run down.

Much prefer the Canyon, Hoover Dam etc etc

Did $1000 in spearmint rhino once . I probably would have spent more but the cash machine wouldn't give me more . Had a good time but wouldn't rush back . Ricky Hatton fights cost me a few quid in tickets and shit bets as I didn't have a clue what the over and under was in the casino's.
