Last Film You Saw

Should have used Famke Janson for the dark Phoenix story, hot as hell.
As long as they do not have that lame as fuck Cyclops story in it. I never liked that arc, it was obvious as hell Wolverine is the man for her. Not that i was on "wolverines side" the whole thing was shown in one clip pretty much where they cross paths at the doorway. It felt less than half baked and created no real genuine tension. Nor did Johansson come across as the wall flower type which made her being with Cyclops even more unbelievable. That woman is sexy as hell and it comes across. You just know Wolverine was giving her the claw when cyclops was busy not being able to control his power somewhere.

Johansson's Phoenix was wasted in a pg-13 world and this film should be closer to r rated imo for the tone it demands; with Johansson in it. I am not a comic book guy by any stretch but as i understand it the Phoenix is a really nasty fucker. Not sure a pg13 can do that justice, at least for an adults eyes.

I think I said something about this back end of Aug/ early Sept I think. It had been shelved indefinitely at that time, so imagine my surprise when I heard, before Christmas it was getting a release! I felt like an idiot as I was under the impression it was really bad.

I guess first impressions last!
Yeah you are seemingly self redeemed on this one hehe. We could be wrong but from all the info available and looking at hollywood recent history it is not having a negative nelly attitude to say we fear the worst.

The Mule, an enjoyable film but Clint is looking very old these days, sometimes I’m shocked when I watch people ageing on film, I suppose it shows how old I’m getting 6/10

Mortal Engines..WTF. Bad script, bad story, slightly saved by the visuals but not enough to make it any good. Pile of stinking shit.
The concept had promise. They did not need to put in this boy meets girl story. The chance to provide a pretty unique story only this world can provide has been wasted. You could have had lots of these megacitys going to great lengths to recruit other city's engineers, strange deaths and such. The reason why would be to have the best machines to "migrate" to where the seasonal bounty is, much like Elephant on the African plains. The one who gets there first or can refine it best flourishes with the richest of the worlds citizens wanting to live with them etc etc. I mean it does not have to be that but at least the focus would be on a unique enough story line.

This film is the wrong way around i think. The side story of the machines and those in power of them should be front and centre. The lives of the shire fol... err i mean megacity dweller people should build up the world and frame the main story. A little across the barricades style young love story if you must Mr Jackson but just don't have the teenage boy meets girl thing as your main story. It just feels a wasted opportunity.

The Royal Tenenbaums

Wes Anderson is one of the my favourite directors, and he impressed again here.

In my view, Rushmore remains his best work.

I couldn't make any heads nor tails of the thing, it seemed like one of those that probably is good in a book but the complex storyline doesn't translate into moving picture. The premise was stupid enough, they just made it even worse with the writing and execution IMO.
