Last Film You Saw

I have a question for the resident Marvel nerds on here.

The fact that Robert Downey Jr is playing Dr Doom....how are they spinning this?

Are they:

A) Having Jr playing a completely new character, paying him in the region of 100 million to be in it, and basically
messing with people as they have spent years associating him as Ironman.

B) Would they try to spin this that he is still Tony Stark, albeit in/from and alternate universe that has taken the bad persona...aka Dr Doom

I find it quite fascinating that, if it is A, then why, considering how many actors there are in the world, would they possibly do that without some kind of a twist to the tale

Most likely multiverse. 'Stark' face, different person.

Downey Jr is a box office Marvel draw, for sure and Marvel are doing a reset of stories using 'Doom' to do it. Should see some and new characters coming through.

There's only one jimmy grimble. Rememberd renting this film about 25 years ago and gave it a rewatch tonight. Nice feel good film, Great soundtrack and City, 10/10 for the quote to the scout at the end alone.

Unforgivable… on BBC. By Jimmy McGovern, starring David Threlfall, Anna Friel, Anna Maxwell Martin and my son who played the Prison Chaplain at the beginning.

Very good, harrowing and upsetting given the subject of the plot. 9/10
Yeah very very good, not Jimmy's best though imo, and I'm not that keen on Anna Friel playing that major role.
I always feel she has a slight tendency to overact a bit and she portrays a sort of overdone bleakness in most characters she plays.
I felt that Anna Maxwell Martin maybe should have got that main role.
I was riveted from the beginning though.

Great about your son being in the cast :)

I'd give it 7.5/10

Happy Gilmore 2...loved the first one years ago and this one didn't disappoint for laughs although could have made it a 90 minute film if not for show clips from the first film..7.5 out of 10

Happy Gilmore 2. Thought it had some really funny moments, especially with the pro golfers and actors from the first film. 7/10

It’s hard to explain, but with these newer films I’m finding the picture quality almost too good/ crisp at times. It lacks a bit of the charm of how the first film looked visually

Gladiator II.
On the back foot straightaway without the Hans Zimmer soundtrack.
Paul Mescal does a decent job in the lead role but for me it was just a photocopy of the original.

Yes good shout about Anna Friel/Anna Maxwell Martin. Our Chris has been in many films and TV roles. Still waiting for the big one though

Agree with that. Anna MM is a superb actress.

Fantastic Four. Glorious to look at, but really not that good. Probably didn’t help that I’ve never read a comic book in my life and had no idea about any of it going in, I think it’s one for the fans only.
Seeing Mark Gatiss was an interesting diversion and during the credits found out that the guy voicing the big baddy is the bloke who played Finchy in The Office!
