Last Film You Saw

Vivarium

Currently on 4od. Couple go to see creepy house and get trapped there and forced to raise a child.

I quite liked this, but it did feel like it was reheating a lot of creepy horror thriller tropes maybe. It's quite a blatant allegory for the crushing existence of suburban life which I think has been done a bit much, but all the same I still think it's not a bad film. 6.5/10.

Beanpole

1945, Leningrad. World War II has devastated the city, demolishing its buildings and leaving its citizens in tatters, physically and mentally. Although the siege - one of the worst in history - is finally over, life and death continue their battle in the wreckage that remains. Two young women, Iya and Masha, search for meaning and hope in the struggle to rebuild their lives amongst the ruins

Brilliant film,
8/10

The Alpinist, great respect to those climbers who can climb without any ropes up a sheer face, this was a fantastic story about an amazing young man.

Was amazing! Some of the footage was awesome.

The prescient video sent from an Alaskan summit was chilling, though.

belfastmovie7.jpgKenneth Branagh"s semi autobiographical account of his early life in Belfast. Really enjoyed it.

I know they’re not films, but two Netflix series that have grabbed me recently were:

Ozark Season 4 (Part 1)
After Life Season 3

Completely different, but both brilliant in their own way.

Julia Garner is a revelation in Ozark, and Laura Linney plays so against type that she scares me a bit. Bateman displays his usual “Steady Eddie” brilliance.

The emotionality of After Life 3 took me by surprise.
