I got the ending first watch but still thought it was a poor, film. The searchers is a great western. This is not. The characters are so bloody one dimensional.Thanks.
It's funny, but I saw all the pieces (not the slow revenge) and it all seems so at odds, so it's no wonder it was confusing as there was no clear cut reasons to kill someone.
In fact, the way the film sets its stall out, it makes the victim more of a psychopath than the bully, so all sympathy is lost.
Very odd and wholly understand why it missed the mark for quite a few, obviously, me included!! Also, it doesn't help that you'd have to know how anthrax works in that environment.
Thanks, again, for that.
over the top repressed bully
silent type (was he hiding hidden depths? who knows)
hysterical woman who drinks (albeit that was a personality change from the first thirty minutes)
fey son (I will say no more)
mix them together and what have you got?
in Jane Campions hands an arty farty pot of tedium that considers lots of long shots of mountain ranges and vast prairies as atmosphere. And some of the worst carpet chewing OTT acting particularly from Cumberbatch. IMO of course, each to their own.
and I wanted to like it as I love westerns.
