Last Film You Saw

Just watched Napoleon. It was okay and very much focused on his personal relationship with Josephine. The film was also a little let down by some of the battle scenes, Waterloo came across as a melee and wasn't a patch on the 1970 film of the same name - they could have cut the battles right back and the film wouldn't have suffered too much.
5.5/10.

The battle at the fort where Napoleon's horse took a direct-hit from a cannonball, looked like a comical out-take of the chestbusting scene from Alien (1979) except it was executed with shoddy CGI FX.

Yet in Ridley Scott's first movie, The Duellists (1977) all the duel/battle scenes felt much more visceral.

Old dads.

I know they were literally the butt of the joke, but my god the characters in this film are infuriating, not what I'd call enjoyable to watch in a comedy.

3/10

Watched Napoleon tonight and was pretty disappointed to be honest. It just seemed to bounce from battle to battle with the Josephine romance inserted between. Apparently a lot has been cut out of the version we get on streaming services and there was a lot more detail in the cinema version? I’d rather see that if that’s the case.

Also watched Spoiler Alert yesterday as I think Jim Parsons is a really decent actor. Girlfriend loved it and cried plenty.

Benadetta. Tits, bush, ass, lesbians, violence and plenty of it. The usual stuff you get from dirty old man Paul Verhoven.
Soft core porn masquerading as art house cinema. Uncomfortable viewing. Trash.

Godzilla Minus One. Bit overrated this one, too much human drama and not enough action, which is odd coming from me as action films tend to bore me. Metaphor heavy with a definite thematic undercurrent of Japan coming to terms with its cruel imperial past, and lack of value for human life. Reminds me I need to Google if Japanese warplanes really didn't have ejector seats. Godzilla when he's on screen is one mean motherf**ka though. 7/10

Just caught the last 45 minutes of Godzilla king of the monsters. Christ what a load of shite.

What era are the planes? The Japanese didn’t have them in WW2
