Last Film You Saw

Sands of the Kalahari (1965) starring Stanley Baker, Stuart Whitman and Susannah York. Filmed on location the story of a place crash many miles from civilisation. The 6 survivors have to contend with very high temperatures, limited food supplies and a pack of wild baboons, angry at their water supply has been discovered. Throw in the sex angle and Whitman's paranoia and loss of control there is an explosive finale. Highly rated and rarely seen drama.

Really good movie - I prefer it to Flight of the Phoenix, which has a superficially similar plot.

Fact - Stuart Whitman invested his money in building properties in Malibu at the start of his career when the place was a few dozen houses and when he retired was one of the richest people in Hollywood. He didn’t need to act financially, he just did it because he loved hanging out on film sets.

Nosferatu. 7/10

Really do love Robert Eggers and think he has a masterpiece in him, but this isn’t it. It’s beautifully shot but it’s lacking in places and has a tendency to over explain.

Willam Dafoe turns in a great performance, Bill Skarsgård is once again a brilliant villain but my god Lily-Rose Depp does her best to ruin the whole thing by totally over acting throughout, found myself laughing as she groaned and convulsed her way through nigh on every scene.

Still, enjoyed an afternoon out at the cinema. Next up will be ‘Bird’.

Number 24 . a true story about Norwegian resistance fighter ,
The best film I have seen in ages . On Netflix.
Just watched it. An excellent movie. I can't imagine what it was like in those days or that I'd have the bravery to do anything about it.

A great tale of how peace is so precious but also how ethics are completely different in troubled times.

Maybe it's just me but take WWII and the Holocaust out of that story and there was precious little difference between freedom-fighter and terrorist.
