Trying to catch up on the major streaming releases this year. Tense and nonsense all in one. The issue with this types of films is the reveal is always underwhelming.
Still catching up on a few films this year, started out great, 2 sharpshooters tasked with manning this gorge, bit of mystery, couple of decent characters. Final act just went to shit though.
Watched Dunkirk with my family last Friday evening. My 13 year old daughter asked if we could watch it. She said her history teacher told her it was a good film.
We enjoyed it. Of course. I knew the story but hadn't ever seen it before.
The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970) directed by the great Billy Wilder. An affectionate take on the legend's last unreported case involving the Loch Ness monster, Queen Victoria, Trappist monks, teams of midgets and an espionage plot. Holmes' drug use and a gay subtext adds to the fun. Recommended.
Based on true events. DuPont disposing harmful chemicals in the water. Causing cancers, killing livestock etc Mark Ruffalo as the dogged lawyer, very good.
Just seen a video on YT discussing a proposed reboot of Highlander, with Henry Cavill as Connor MacLeod...
Not sure how I feel about it, to be honest. The original is a bit "clunky"; compared to today's CGI/AI effects, the SFX in the Russell Mulcahy film are, let's be honest, amateurish. But that's what was around in the mid 80s, I guess. And although it's looking dated, it has a certain charm to it. And a cracking soundtrack!
