Last Film You Saw

House of Dynamite - absolutely loved it from the way its split into 3 interlocking stories to the writing and acting.
Gave me nightmares though - been a long time since a film did that.

Seems to be very similar to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_War:_A_Scenario
Basically we are fucked if it happens and I wish we had adults running the world that would take notice. Ronal Regan famously watched The Day After and began the end of the Cold War because it shocked him that much, sadly I can’t see the orange gibbon or Putin doing the same.

The Long Walk, based off the Stephen King novel. Phenomonal film and brutal in places. Mark Hamill is a right bastard in it.

House of Dynamite. Started off well but I disagree with others, the same film from three different perspectives I didn't like, and the ending was one of the worst I've ever seen.

AI vs humans.
It's hard to follow, a lot of the dialogue/explanation is drowned, and there is an awful lot more shouting and exploding than acting. All a bit of a mess really.

But you didn’t see an ending that’s the point, it’s upto you to think of the consequences of all this.

I understand that’s the point, I just think it’s a cop out. And the more I think of the film, the 1st act was really good then it just went to shit imo. There was a film on Netflix years ago whose name escapes me where it had a similarly crap ending.

After our pedestrian performance at Villa Park, I decided to watch the Long Walk. Interesting film, but found my attention wandering, watching some pretty old “teenagers” drudging through a deserted landscape. A good but predictable ending and strong performance from the guy playing “Pete”.
I just found large sections of it to be tedious - once the storyline had been framed. 6/10 and worth a watch though.

I agree with you. Not sure what other posters are watching in order to think it's a 'great film'.

It's badly limited in what it can do and where it can go. A really limited 'character study' is all it can offer and there's not enough fully written characters to examine, motive-wise. Clearly, the book is bettered served in the mind than on screen based on this work.

Your score is a bit more generous than mine would be if I were to give scores.

It's going to have to be some film to measure up to the short story which IMHO is Kings best short story.

Am watching it tomorrow night but will keep an open mind, if it entertains me in the slightest it'll be no worse than most of the drivel dressed as shite they pump out now.

Just a quick question; do Sky have some sort of a stake in the Harry Potter movies? They must show that series of movies at least two or three times a year. Great, if you're a fan. Not so much if you're not. I think I watched 10 minutes of one of them once. That was 10 minutes too much.

I got a book by richard bachman(sp) 4 short stories, road block, the long walk, running man and i think get it on. All 4 great. Running man book is nothing like the film, it's brilliant. The long walk was my pick of them tho. I'm sure having read it, I will enjoy the film more than someone who hasn't read it.
It has a footnote at the start of the book as to why King used a pseudonym and why he had to come clean. Bachman pretty quickly became too popular for the secret to kept.

Mission Impossible Final Reckoning, second watch of this but this time at home looks and sounds stunning, Cruise is a bloody nutter 7.5/10

New Running man film follows the book in a way.
