All jokes aside am I the only one that doesn't want to see us paying well over the odds for players? David Villa is not worth £52 million, he is the poor relation of the Spanish strike force and Torres went for £27 mill.

Don't get me wrong he is a very very good player. I know people will say "It's not my money who cares" But I don't like the idea of every little tin pot outfit thinking they can fleece us, I reckon that Villa would be up for around £30 mill £35 tops if it was anyone else, forget about release clauses etc Valencia are on their arse and need to sell an dthis fee is vastly inflated

I see where you're coming from, but I don't mind what we're paying for the top players.

And Villa is a top notch footballer.

who cares about the money its not ours unless adug goes bust we dont have to worry about how much we play just as long as we get the perfect player to increase the teams capability, at moment we need a strike who can score a good 20 goals a season and score scappy goals when playing away david villa is proving that in spain so why not splash the cash for a proven world class striker.

I don't think you no that much about him, better than Torres from all reports, also the players that are linked are top players, at the moment whilst the owners are trying to establish us as a top club, we will pay over the odds

So you tell me that I don't know much about him then tell me he is better than Torres by all reports!!

Trust me he isn't better than Torres, which isn't a disaster seeing as he is just about the best striker in the world. He is a very good player, I won quite a decent amount of money on him at the Euros with a fair sized bet because I KNEW he was a very good striker and at the relative prices he was much better value than Torres.

I understand the need to establish ourselves but its going to be very difficult to stop being grossly over charged once we start

Re: David Villa Done Deal!

Villa is better than Torres in the eyes of a lot of people and is considered by the Spanish to be their top striker.

Re: David Villa Done Deal!

The fact is, if City get in a bidding war with one of the "big four", we will lose the player. At the moment we cannot offer champions league football, and if it carries on like this, no EUFA either.

So if mega bucks are bid, it scares off the others and lets us get our man.

The whole world knows we have billons, so i reckon we are going to get bummed on every deal, but thats the way it is! look what we did to Chelski with SWP!

Re: David Villa Done Deal!

I reckon, all things considered, this is going to happen...

We WILL spend big in January, we have the cash (more than anyone else), Valencia need the cash (more than anyone else except united), Villa would jump at the opportunity to play in The Premier League (with Robinho and being able to live near Torres, not sure if they're mates...), we need a world class goalscorer... All facts!

Excellent!

You can almost hear the arses twitching down at the swamp...

Tenner, anyone?
