Re: David Villa Done Deal!
Got to be honest, I started reading this thread, then when returned noticed it had completely out of hand (50-odd pages or so). Now being completely honest, I don't watch too much Spanish football, so can't really pass judgment on DV, but after watching todays performance, it appears to me that it is blatantly obvious we lack pace. Before I reach for my tin hat, what I am getting at is......it looked like today we missed Petrov to run at the fullbacks. SWP looked at his most dangerous when on the wing getting his head down and roasting the fullback. He put in a decent shift but gave to many balls away when coming inside. Zab looked dangerous against Fulham and again today when he got his head down and ran at the fullbacks. When looking at previous City forwards Samaras, Corradi, Macken...even Jo, we have paid decent money for little return (to date in Jo's case). These types of forwards just don't seem to suit City. Now look at probably the best forward we've had in twenty years (with exception to Le Goat) - Anelka. Had pace to burn. OK he was a moody sh!t, but he knew where the onion bag was.
Going back to my original comment, i'm not too sure what DV is like, but for £52M or whatever it is they are talking about, then he MUST have pace. If not, I would turn our attentions (and £M's) to Thierry Henry (or alike).
I hope MH gets time. I get pissed off looking at the stats on Sky Sports News whenever we replace another manager (X amount of managers in the same 20 years that Bacon face has been at the swamp) - but if you read this Les, then please lets have more positive play. We seem shit scared playing football from the bak and running at players. Don't know what to expect in Jan - but some pace please.
Rant over.....
