League Cup @ Newcastle Utd, Gateshead Stadium, 2pm, Sunday

Despite that one save effectively gaining us a point (we still lost 1) I would be looking to move Keating in January. The constant revolving keepers could cost us, we looked nervy & vulnerable all game again - time for Andree to make a call on who is number 1 and for me that is Yama because of her extra experience with Cummings as number 2.

Three long range efforts with our stopper no where near saving them added to poor communication between the defenders and keeper is not ideal.

Another day, another dreadful performance tbh. With the team we fielded - and holding a 3-1 lead in the 2nd half - there's just no excuse for folding like that. You should be coasting past opposition like that even on an off day.

Considering the Newcasle keeper threw a ball into her own goal to gift us the aforementioned 3-1 lead, and then spent the pen shoot out giving the finest display of cauliflower wrists I've seen in a while to push half our pens in, we have zilch to be proud of in that shitshow.

As for our GK - Jesus Christ. She goes down in instalments and spent most of the shootout diving a mile away from the ball to the same side. She must be in the team because she's ace for morale in the dressing room or something.

Like I said last week, is it a mental thing ?
We can turn up and beat Arsenal, yet struggle against a WSL2 mid table team. Their keeper made more (well nearly) saves in the penalty shoot out then the actual match. And do we persist in playing silly back passes , when a big oof is needed ?
You just can't imagine Chelsea, Arsenal or even Utd going there today and not sticking 7,8 or 9 past them .

We absolutely need a keeper. None of them look like a number one.
Post of the season contender.

I said half seriously following the London game that I wouldn't be surprised if Cumings gets a run out as no 1, but now I'm thinking if you've tried all other options then maybe it is time to give her a go.

Everton beat Forest on pens...not 100% sure but a draw v Forest (even losing a shootout) should be ok barring Everton putting 5 past Newcastle.

I had the identical thought throughout the game - even at 1-3 I thought the pace and directness (ie getting the ball into the opposition area quickly that seems to be the hallmark of the three teams mentioned would have rendered a 1-6 or 7 scoreline.
