De Jong
Kompany

Tevez

Rocky
Bellamy

subs: Taylor,Zab,Weiss,Adebayor

That's off the top of my head anyway ... sort of game Bellamy and Kompany + DeJong could prove instrumental for us

Hughes said the other day that Bellamy can play in the left channel (Robbie's position), so i'd definately play him there for this game. It's not a game for Robinho to start. I'd go for:

.................................Given..............................

Zabaleta...........Toure............Onuoha............Bridge

.....................De Jong.............Barry....................
.................................Ireland.............................

.........Tevez.......................................Bellamy.....
...............................Adebayor...........................

....................Taylor.....................
Micah........Dunne.....Ned...........Garrido
......................Zab.........................
SWP................Ireland...............Bellamy
............Benjani.........Tevez.........

Gives Tevez some game time.

Given
Richards TBH Dunne Bridge
De Jong Clayton Barry
Weiss Benji Bellamy

Bench: Taylor Onouha Zabaletta Robinho Adebayor Tevez Ireland

Will this match be on the tuesday or the wednesday?

Gutted if its the tuesday as I wont be able to go

Please don't select Benjani for gods sake. The offside king and serial smiler is terrible to watch!

By the way those fielding an understrength team are wrong. End of the day this is one of three chances of silverwear (yes include the premiership in that, 1 in 20 chance).

I'd be tempted to play:

..................Taylor......................
Richards...Vidal...Onuoha...Garrido...
Ireland...De Jong...Barry...Weiss...
........Adebayor.....Tevez............

You could then choose from a whole host of subs, but have the class of Robinho & Bellamy on the bench just in case.

Palace away is the ideal game for fringe/youth players to test themselves and stake their claim for a permanent place, Vidal and Weiss especially.

Rocky Tevez

Strong line up, yet gives a few guys a chance to prove themselves (and Vlad a start).

I doubt he'll be playing. You'll probably have to omit him for someone else.

After Brighton last year I would just play our strongest side. We cant afford to lose this one, we'd be absolutely SLAUGHTERED by the press.

Never, ever have I heard so much shit spoken on a thread before.

Why would we do anything other than play our strongest team for this match?????? Maybe to save them for all the euro games we haven't got this season???? If we lose in the first round of both cups we will have 40 games this season.

Reasons why we should play our best team.....

1. Our new team needs to play competitive matches so they can begin to bond and get used to each other.

2. The League Cup is probably the MOST likely route to silverware this season.

3. Winning this trophy gives automatic euro football next season.

4. We have a terrible history of going out to shitty teams in the early stages of cup competitions.

5. We could get some of our forwards off to a get start will a few goals each.

6. We have not won a trophy since 1976 (when I was 1) and I would quite like a trip out to Wembley.

7. Neil Warnock is a twat

Anyone suggesting that Taylor, Garriddo,Clayton, Benjani Weiss, Johnson etc should be starting are either mad or or stupid

This^^^^^ and I would add I haven't seen much of Palace, but I'm guessing if they are managed by Warnock they are just the kind of team we struggle against, so anything less than a full side would be foolish.

Zab/Toure/Dunne/Bridge

DeJong

SWP/Ireland/Barry

Tevez/Bellamy

Robinho/Adebayor/Weiss/Petrov/Richards for subs.

Ordinarily the line-up would be different. I just like Zab as RB/DM better than Richards because he is more skilled on the ball and can do more when attacking. The only thing he lacks is height but can make it up with better defending. I think I have only seen him get beat once to a mistake of his own.
