I'm still ploughing on with Icelandic. Completely useless here, but it's a highly engaging language to get your head round and hasn't changed in thousands of years.
That Rosetta stone thingymajig works pretty well. Work set up an online thing to use and it is really easy to follow. I can now ask any french person for directions to the bus station.
I got it free through work because I wrote on an apraisal form that I wanted to learn a foreign language to be able to commune with my European colleagues.
It does work though, it's more the way that they teach it that makes it easy to learn because they never give you translations, they just show you pictures and it works almost on a trial and error thing at first. After a while you just follow the logic of the wording and it becomes second nature. I had a go at learning japanese to test it and it was just as easy as learning french. Gave up on the Japanese though.
