I'm going to night classes this month to start learning Spanish. I know a little bit already and enjoy visiting Spain and don't do too badly getting understood but really I do consider myself a beginner. There's no doubt I will see it through and won't drop out.

I wondered if anyone else was doing the same and wanted to compare notes?

Nice one fella,
love spain also, always feel inadequate when i cant speak any spanish with the locals.
How much is the course costing you, if you dont mind me asking ?

why bother learning Spanish?

Just talk s-l-o-w-l-y, do it twice as loud as you normally do and do a mime of what your asking for ;-)

I need to learn, but i don't have time for night classes. At the moment i'm jsut trying to learn some fo the basic vocab and general pronunciation.

I took me all of Friday to learn how to count to 5. Not great considering i already knew how to count to 4. Now and again i can remember the word for 6, but 7 is proving a struggle...

I've lived in Spain just over a year and despite taking many classes, I'm struggling. It's a lot more difficult than I ever thought it would be, especially learning the correct way when you haven't a clue what half the stuff is in English.

I would honestly recommend Michel Thomas. He's got a French accent and sounds nothing like a Spaniard but if you can get past that then try him. His method of learning is so much easier than using books.
