Leasehold Vs Freehold

I thought the government was supposed to be getting rid of leaseholds?
My property is leasehold and is fixed at £35 a year for 899 years so no fears. The annoying thing is it's split into two 6 monthly payments of £17.50. They used to only accept cheques which had to be posted to a PO box. At long last I can now pay online.

The last gov was looking into outlawing leaseholds on new builds. Not sure if Lab gov carrying on with this.

It's already law but much of the legislation isn't fully in place yet, I seriously doubt that Labour would repeal it.
