Leaving 3 up for defending corners

I was pleased to see this too ... it was ridiculous sometimes last season when we had literally everyone in our own box. Half the time the extra players just got in each other's way ("too many cooks" and all that) ... but the worst thing is that whenever we cleared the ball, the oppostion had all the time in the world to put it back in. It was like giving the opposition 2 corners for the price of one ... or like having the second-serve in tennis ... if the oppostion don't get the initial corner right, then give them a second go.

The new style of leaving men up, also sends out a message: "we're not scared of you - but you should be scared of us !".

So I'll be really pleased if we keep players up when defending corners for the rest of this season.

been saying it last year and said about it this season, we need 2-3 players out of the box incase ball is put out of area, with 3 players out there we can break with pace, glad our manager has took my thoughts on board.

I think it's a tactic that Mancini will only use against big physical teams to keep their tall defenders out of our penalty area at set pieces

It also gives our defenders and Joe a lot more room to claim the ball.

I think this along with the pace of Aguero, skills of Silva etc means that when the ball does come out we have an outlet where, hopefully, it doesnt come straight back at us !
