Is that Oakie’s over 65s ticket?
Is that Oakie’s over 65s ticket?
Isn't it? ; )Half a Crown for a footie match, bloody marvellous :)
That's about £4 in today's money. Bargain!
Eight half crowns in a pound so I think my £4 is nearer the mark ;-) (I used the same calculator!)A U.K. Inflation calculator shows that £1 in 1947 would equate to £33.07 today, so my maths suggests that same ticket should be just under a Fiver “in today’s money!”

*railway stationI left bang on 90 because our trains are that shit I didn't want to wait at a train station getting pissed wet through for an hour for the sake of 5 minutes.
Ye but players got paid about £12 a week so that would be £396.84! They are on 1000times more.A U.K. Inflation calculator shows that £1 in 1947 would equate to £33.07 today, so my maths suggests that same ticket should be just under a Fiver “in today’s money!”

"Part-time Supporters" was the popular refrain IIRC.I can well remember the Platt Lane leaving early and the top of the Kippax singing to them.... We can see you sneaking out...it's nice of you to come etc.

It was indeed. The value 2 shillings and 6 pence and there were 8 half crowns in a pound. When decimalisation was introduced was the equivalent to 12 and a half pence.Wasn't half a crown about 12p not a £1
It's a strange one, I grant you that. There's probably all sorts of social experiments that could be conducted on fan behaviour at our ground. The chap who sits next to me regularly lambasts people for leaving before full time. However, leaving his seat on 35 mins for the bar and not returning until the 50-55th minute mark is perfectly ok.Stay or leave, entirely up to individuals involved. I am sometimes curious what nirvana people are rushing home to but then that’s just me!
Last Wednesday though I nipped out for a pee just after Kev scored the second (31 minutes) and there were 4 people queueing at the shuttered bar. Now, I like a drink but the logic of that one does escape me.
15 minutes to HT, team seemingly waking from an autumnal hibernation but not worth seeing it out because you ‘need’ a beer. It’s not as if it was on the big screens either, which still would be bad enough…..

OkIt was, indeed.
Did you need me to divide the £33 by 8 for you?
Or, maybe multiply the 12p by 33?
Either way, £4 will get you there!
Moss Side’s Finest, you say? Say no more!
