Lee Carsley / Ashley Cole take over England U21's

Wouldn't think that from his career? He had an outstanding career, best left-back England ever had.

Meaning he was never a leader or an organiser, he was a superb left back but nothing in his career suggested he would make that transition from playing to coaching like you thought Kompany, Gerrard, Vieira, Keane would for example.

And like I couldn’t or can’t see David Silva, Ngolo Kante, Peter Crouch or Michael Owen going into coaching, which is the same group I would put Cole in.

There are 6 Academy players in the squad announced today.
Trafford (Bolton)
Harwood Bellis (Burnley)
Mbette (Huddersfield)
T Doyle (Sheff Utd)
McAttee (Sheff Utd)
Palmer

No mention of Delap or Callum Doyle. I Presume they are in lower age groups.

Hope he can get a tune out of them.

Mods, Can this be shifted to the academy forum, please. Apologies

Him not singing the national anthem is the press' way of setting him up for a fail. When they are not pleased with how he is doing they will have triggered enough people into disliking him. Its how they work, and England fans are basically sheep who believe the lying manipulative media.

We've gone from Southgate to this guy, thats an improvement LOL.

Ridiculous amount of typically overreacting rubbish being written about him not wanting to sing the national anthem.

He didn't even want to sing the Irish one, he's a weird fucker at the very least. I used to love watching England but all it is now is a hinderance fucking our season up.

Who gives a fuck, whether Carsley sang the national anthem?

England won under his leadership; that’s all that matters.

On a side note, I didn’t realise, until Twatterface mentioned it tonight, that Joleon is a member of the coaching team.
