What the fuck is wrong with you people. The Libertines are utter amateur dog shite. I've never understood how they got such praise. They are the prime example of why music is so shite these days. That prick Doherty is a no talent filthy smack head. He makes my skin crawl. He looks like he probably stinks and is actualy sticky to the touch the scruffy cnut.

Someone needs to force wash the twat.

There is however at least a couple of decent bands playing at Reading/Leeds this year:

the libertines are dog shite, yet you like cypress hill? please LOL

as for doherty you won't find many better songwriters in the country, yeah he's an idiot and makes a dick of himself, but he's one talented bloke who just has a stupid idiotic life that goes with it, at times he's just a wasted talent.

Freestler he's a terrible songwriter. You should check out gil scot heron if you want to listen to a true social commentator who could make you think while hooking you in with a melody and not just using the four guitar chords doherty bothered to learn.

I like to see things from other peoples points of view but i'm affraid that on this subject your are simpley wrong mate. I could name literaly a hundred songwriters over the past 50 years more important and tealented than that useless Junky fuck. The reason he winds me up so much is he embodies everything that is wrong with modern day popular culture In Britain.

He is the best young British kids have to look up to as an idol and say "see, It's not all Simon Cowell X Factor shite, We have This"..... And i find that very sad. Between Shite like the liberteens and the handfull of other watered down shite British bands of this generation and the invasion of whiney angst ridden EMO American shite like Paramore, My Chemichal Romance etc then i can confidently say British Popular culture hasn't been in such a dire situation since the the early 90's when a hole host of crap Nirvana wannabes invaded our shores.

Back then we had a saviour in the form Of Damon Albarn who said enough is enough. Let's get back to writing great songs that celebrates our Britishness. Which paved the way for Suede, Oasis, Pulp, Radiohead, The Manic Street Preachers etc... Real bands writing quality music with something to say.

However this time i fear there is no champion ready to rise from the ashes and save this generation from growing up listening to wishy washy shite. God help em all.

PS. here are some British song writers from the last 5 decades who are all imeasurabley superior to Mr Doherty and his merry band of nothingness. But then again, That's not very Difficult.

Lennon/McCartney... Nuff said right?

Always been able to take or leave The Libertines and had no plans to watch them last night, but after some persuasion from Blueshortshorts I put it on and watched that last 10 or so songs - they were brilliant!

Great energy and positive vibe to the whole performance. Pete looked healthy and as a band they were tight. Love them or hate them anyone watching that last night and hearing the crowd would have seen that to a lot of people they were very important and have been sorely missed.

Good to have them back.

Saw The Libertines last night on the box - can't believe how brilliant they sounded and how good Doherty looked - am praying that they do a full tour and come to Manchester - saw them twice years ago and they were top - saw Babyshambles at Jabez Clegg and they were dreadful. So fuckin good to see em back....

Arcade Fire ? Yep, they were fantastic aswell, humble, and a stage with so much goin' on, love em !
