Haven't seen the incident (or what provoked it) but no doubt the politically correct brigade are out in force talking about their "shock" that this has occurred. Everybody has to hyperventilate in shock when mildly rare incidents like this occur or get accused of condoning it. Personally I'm expecting the day will come when a more prominent footballer ends up being killed by a fan (though probably not in the middle of a game taking place) so one incident like this isn't too surprising for me.

Just watched it again and Kirkland does make a meal of it and I'm not condoning what the numb-nut Leeds scum does.

The FA have to get a hold of this and ban Leeds fans from away games for the rest of the season. Also, start punishing clubs hard if their fans use offensive chanting by making them play behind closed doors. We all like a bit of banter but there has to be a line drawn that we don't cross.

If we follow the UEFA model with derisory fines, will the English game return to the dark days of the 70's and 80's?

I have been on the receiving end of leeds in the 80' s and 90's and they've been c*nts. Similarly I know of Leeds fans who have been on the end of beatings at city. The point I was making was, apart from that prick, it was a decent away following.
