Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I dont know why it seems we can only attack from the left, Doku gets marked by 2 and we still feel then need to continually look for him.
Yet our 3 goals all came from the right. At no point did we think to try and mix it up

Good result.....for relegation fighting team!

Happy for Phil scoring two goals and just another proof - how many do you need Pep? - where he needs to play, but this three points do not keep us in the title race, do not show any sign of progression, I am not actually sure what I am watching here?

And now RM away, CP away, NF away, all the teams capable of hitting the energy levels and having necessary skills to cause us to disintegrate in 6 minutes.

I don't know how many problems Pep has to solve, probably 5-6 too many, but for start can we start playing with 11 men on the pitch, and if that means bench whoever then bench that whoever!

Went on the match day thread omg ,what the feck support your team get behind them ,well done city !
Its because the drop off in quality over last 18 x months quite unbelievable! Our second team v Lev' in Europe...million miles away...Today we were pretty average
first half v a very poor Leeds side at home,, sht it soon as they attacked us..they are bottom, we are very poor tactically as well as poor in terms of quality truth be said...

We were cruising in that first half but their early second half goal made us unnecessarily jittery. Need to sort that out.

We weren't really crusing though. We got the early goal, Leeds threw in the towel and then we dropped into 2nd gear and just went through the motions until the second goal came.

A good Pep side would have scored 4 in that first half.

And then it feels like Farke read the riot act, changed tactics and told them we weren't that good and that's how it played out 2nd half.

When you look back at the players we had in the treble year and of that time it was hard to find a weakness in any of them. We have now arrived at a situation when you look at our first eleven/ squad it's difficult to find a strength in any of them

In a foul fucking mood after that. Pep has fucked with the rhythm and structure of this team too much in the last 7-10 days. Loads of players out of form, our top players lack sharpness. Leeds are relegation fodder and they took the piss for 45 minutes. Papered over a big load of cracks there. Pep is losing the players imo.
Lost

Very soft underbelly in this squad overall, there were 2 or 3 that were up for the fight in the 2nd half, but most of them couldn't handle it

Really concerned about Gvardiol, I thought he'd be one of the serious leaders by now, but he's ridden with mistakes

Again thought both Nico's were very good and both were up for the fight, and despite not really getting involved in the 2nd half, Foden has saved our ass there at the end

Still look at our 11 and really struggle to pick out the leaders, and the ones that I thought would be, are the ones that look the most susceptible (Dias, Gvardiol, Bernardo)

I just don’t see how the rest is fine, this squad is so overrated.

We have wingers who don’t score, too some it seems like it’s just a minor problem. Defence is horrendous, Nunes has been good this season luckily, but for how long. We create next to nothing and we are soft all over the pitch.

Leeds have one of the worse attacks and defences in the league and they very nearly got something here from being 2 down.

If you mean top 4 than your probably right, but we’ve just spent over 400 million in 2 windows and have barely improved.
I mean that we have looked pretty good lately until Pep had to touch our midfield again.

The combination of current day Silva and the absolute fragile nothingness that is Tijani Reijndeers on this level just invites any team to just outmuscle us. They both offer nothing forward as well, one because he never has control of the ball and never knows what he wants to do. The other because he has been lobotomised into never taking risks. We can carry one of them, both together and we will struggle against any fucker.

If we had a fit Rodri or Kovacic next to Nico atm I predict we would be looking pretty good with our new front 4 (Doku, Foden, Haaland, Cherki). Sadly they arent, and also we have a manager that loves Bernie and we have spent a lot on Reijndeers.

I am usually optimistic about players, but they need to show something. Reijndeers just screams nothing player. The touch, the control, the awareness, the class. Just isnt there at this pace. And defensively, he is like a kid that doesn't really like football

We’d have lost that game last season and it’s great to see players other than Haaland dragging us over the line.

The second half of games is still an huge issue for this side though. How many decent second half performances have we had over the past 18 months? Cannot be that many.

Pep also needs to get Reijnders and Marmoush up to scratch. We get them firing and this could still be a great season.

A very, very important win but we are way too fragile - as soon as Nunes makes a silly error they all panic. Credit Leeds they really went for it but we let them take control. Tactically we looked lost for 20 mins in that second half and I hope Pep learns that even at 2-0 you cannot give any team space and that happened by reverting to tippy, tippy rondo drilled play. Bernie and Tijjani are not the right balance in midfield and leave Nico far too much to do - they all stopped looking to get control of the game and that nearly cost us.

Again today shows why Rodri is so key to everything we do. If they can get him fit and play him alongside Nico we would be in a much better place.

I also think we need to play all three of Cherki, Phil and Erling - Rayan is needed to help find the big man early - he gets another assist today - what's that 5 in 550 mins of football - not bad. But looking at the Newcastle game we really need the right balance defensively in order to do that and having a fit Rodri is everything.
