Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We’re adding new players and regressing
It's been a long time since we signed a "superstar"
We knew what we were getting with Haaland, but £100M for Grealish (despite him winning medals) has not ended well.

We seem to be obsessed at getting "value for money" signings, rather than going for top talent.

We're still competitive, but a million miles away from 2023.

Our DoF needs to step up

Spot on! As poor as that 2nd half was, we kept going and won the match.

12 months ago we'd have drawn or possibly lost that game. Slow progress but with Rodri coming back and maybe a couple of signings in January, everything's still possible this season. We can all see the negatives from today so let's accentuate the positives as we got out of jail after 2 poor results, and live on to fight another day.
Lack physicality in midfield and unreliable defence - until that is addressed we will be vulnerable and results will be patchy at best

I’ve said before DoF is scared of spending big £££ after Jacks underperforming

But that's the point though surely?

Against Southampton we were coming off the back of winning 11 league games on the bounce and had just cemented top spot of the CL group with 5 straight wins.

By all means yes they are late winners but I'm not sure what the comparison is?
We are just fannies... Cos we tell it how it is.... We was shit simple as.

People claiming it was a sign of champions win are fucking deluded. A sign of champions has a decent record behind them, not 2 losses with piss poor performances. This is literally papering over the cracks.

If im wrong I'll come on here and admit it but I know I won't be. Dont even want to imagine what score its gonna be against Madrid if we perform like that. Am I allowed to come on and vent my frustration again if we do get beat? Or is it going to be the happy clappers, wetting their knickers over me, wetting my knickers.

First half very good second half very shit. But 3 points is 3 points and we’re 2nd in the table! Hopefully chelsea arsenal draw tomorrow or even Chelsea win.

Grealish was one of the last decent signings.

Watched the game fro East stand. First half should've been done and dusted 4-0. Some poor rushed finishing. They were no threat playing 5-4-1 , sometimes 6. Credit to them they went 4-4-2 and long ball, mostly diagonal with Calvert Lewin & Dias shitting his pants which breeds panic to rest of back 4. Even Peps pep talk didn't calm things down. Doku was poor, Reindeer shouldn't have been in starting after Tues night and Nico in DM desperately needed help. Performance 2nd half pathetic, no leadership from so called experienced players.

Great to get the three points but everything and everyone else was dross.
Reijnders is 27 with absolutely no idea what to do on a football pitch. He shouldn’t be playing.
We absolutely need a midfielder in January. Pep Guardiola needs to sharpen up and drop Reijnders and Gvardiol.
For all the Bernardo hate I don’t think he was bad today he did what he needed to do and tried to take leadership by forcing attacks.
Good confidence booster for Foden
Yawn

The biggest problem with this team—besides those colossal drop-offs in our play once the second half kicks off—is the complete lack of killer instinct.
When Foden scored in the first attack I honestly thought we were about to win 7–0, with Haaland and Foden bagging three each and Doku adding one. That’s exactly how it looked.

But as the game went on, we just started easing off the gas instead of finishing them off.
Strange things keep happening with us—stuff I genuinely can’t wrap my head around.

It's not and standards are set.

That today was well below standards and should be called out especially given the performances the 2 games prior

I think that performance is obviously below what we can play but not entirely out of what should be expected this season.

We're in year one of a rebuild of the greatest Premier league side in history - plus missing the world's best midfielder.

We'll have good games, bad games and those games in-between.

Try being g realistic. Football isn't what you think should happen.
3 Points.
